Creative Summer 2026 Dates

To be considered, Creative Summer staff must commit to the full six week program plus four days of orientation.

Orientation: June 15 to June 18, 2026 - June 19 is a holiday
- Orientation begins at 5 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday. Thursday is a full day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Camp Dates are
- Session 1: June 22 to July 10, 2026 - July 3 is a holiday
- Session 2: July 13 to July 31, 2026
The camp day for staff runs from 8:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

General Descriptions of Camp Positions

High school students in rising grades 11 and 12. Previous experience as a CIT/LIT is helpful but not required. Junior Counselors assist Counselors in teaching classes and are assigned to classes by their area of expertise and interest. Must be available to work the full six weeks of camp and attend orientation (dates above).

Leader-in-Training Application

High school students in rising grades 9 and 10. This internship program is designed to provide experience in all aspects of being a camp counselor. LITs assist in classes based in part on their interests, but they are also assigned to other duties as needed. Each LIT will prepare and teach a lesson plan to one class during the summer.

LITs, like all Creative Summer staff, must be available to work the full six weeks of camp and attend orientation (dates above).

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

We are seeking experienced Lifeguards/Swim Instructors with interest working with children ages 6 to 13. Individuals should have prior swim team or guarding experience. By state law, all Instructors must be CPR/First Aid and Red Cross Certified. Holton has an indoor swim facility and typically employs a swim staff of 12 to 14 guards. As a counselor in our swimming program, you would be working with kids ages 6-13 either teaching them the strokes or lifeguarding, depending on the class period.

Child Protective Service (CPS) Check
Maryland Background Check in accordance with House Bill 486
Proof that you are eligible to work in the US (I-9 Form)
State and Federal Tax Form Completion
Counselor Health Form
2 Completed Reference Checks
