Creative Summer 2019 Dates

To be considered, Creative Summer staff must commit to the full six week program plus four days of orientation.

  • Orientation: June 18 to June 21, 2019
  • Session 1: June 24 to July 12, 2019
  • Session 2: July 15 to August 2, 2019

2019 Position Availability

Thank you for your interest in working at Creative Summer! Every summer we employ between 225 to 240 Counselors, Junior Counselors, and Counselors-in-Training. Priority is given to returning staff in the hiring process and then interviews are scheduled based on position availability.

The Counselor-in-Training and Junior Counselor Programs for 2019 are currently full. Please check back in October for 2020.

We are still hiring for the following positions:

Lead Vocal Counselor

We are looking for a Vocal Coach/Instructor to work with campers ages 7 to 13. This person should have prior experience teaching music to children. This person would be teaching basic vocal/choral skills, and one class of accapella singing.

Lifeguard/Swim Instructor

We are Seeking an experienced Lifeguard/Swim Instructor with interest working with children ages 6-13. This individual should prior swim team or guarding experience. By state law, all Instructors must be CPR/First Aid and Red Cross Certified. Holton has an indoor swim facility and typically have a swim staff of 12-14. As a counselor in our swimming program, you would be working with kids ages 6-13 either teaching them the strokes or lifeguarding, depending on the class period.

Lead Baking/Cooking Counselor

We are looking for Counselor to Lead our Introduction to Cooking camp class. This counselor would work with children in grades 2-4. This person should have prior cooking experience or love of cooking. This person would be teaching recipes, knife and other cooking skills. Previous experience working with children is important.

Creative Kids Music Counselor

We are seeking a Lead Music Counselor for our Creative Kids program (ages 4 to 7). This person would be responsible for creating fun and engaging lessons, teaching basic music skills to the campers.

Each 3 week session concludes with a musical performance for the campers' families.

Creative Summer Counselor

(Rising Grade 11 through adult)

Creative Summer is seeking talented, enthusiastic and hard-working individuals who love sharing their passions and expertise with children. Professional teachers, coaches, graduate students, college students, and high school students make up the talented, enthusiastic, and friendly staff at Creative Summer. The Camper/Staff ratio of 5:1 ensures individual attention for all campers.

Creative Summer staff must commit to the full six week program plus four days of orientation and training.

All Counselors, Assistant Counselors, Junior Counselors, and Volunteers must submit the following:

  • Completed Application
  • State and Federal Fingerprint Records
  • Child Protective Service (CPS) Check
  • Proof that you are eligible to work in the US
  • 2 Reference Completed Reference Checks

Counselor-in-Training Overview

Creative Summer Counselor-in-Training Program (CIT)

(Grade 9 or 10 in fall 2019)

Rising Grade 9 and 10 students can apply for the Counselor-in-Training internship program at Creative Summer. The goal of this program is to train young men and women to become effective and talented counselors. Through hands-on learning in the classroom and leadership training throughout the program, the CITs leave Creative Summer with a better understanding of the camp environment and how to successfully work with children.

Creative Summer staff, including CITs must commit to the full six week program plus four days of orientation and training. CITs do have the opportunity of receiving a stipend for the internship OR Community Service hours.

Fingerprinting

Once hired, all NEW Creative Summer staff must be fingerprinted, as required by the State of Maryland. Please contract the Creative Summer office for the location and forms for fingerprinting.
