Our Year-Round Team
Callie Oliver, Camp Director
Creative Summer is in Callie's blood. In addition to her role as Director, Callie started at camp when she was five years old. Callie is a University of Maryland graduate an avid Terps supporter, with a Master’s in Education from the George Washington University. After college, she worked for Hobsons, focusing on College and Career readiness, but finally returned home to Creative Summer in 2015 to take over the program as Director. Since then, Callie has stayed busy running after her four-year old Camper, Dylan.

Campers come to camp and have the opportunity to try new things without the stress of teachers and grades. I get to see how talented and special each of our kids are on a daily basis. I am so lucky!"
Mary Warth, Assistant Director
2023 will be Mary's 14th Creative Summer. After a long career in corporate administration, she finally found her happy place in the summer camp world and has never looked back! Mary manages camp registration as well as all camper and family information and communication year round. During camp she is probably the one member of our senior staff you can find easily, holding the office together while our other directors are “in the field” managing all the moving parts of camp. Outside of Creative Summer, Mary is a baseball and swim mom to her own former camper (now high school senior and assistant counselor!), and enjoys doing crafts (crochet is a favorite), cooking, and spending time with family.

Many campers return after they age out of the camper program and continue on as LITs, junior counselors, and beyond. My son attended Creative Summer since he was five and both of my kids have worked here. In fact, my best summers have been camping here at Creative Summer with my kids.”
La'Tia Smith, Assistant Director
Creative Summer is excited to welcome La'Tia Smith as the Manager for Summer and Special Programs. She is one of Creative Summer's longest tenured individuals, bringing 22 years of consecutive attendance as both a camper and a counselor. La'Tia comes to us after spending five years as the Head Teacher for the two year-olds class at Holton-Arms School's Child Development Center. One thing to know about La'Tia is that she loves all things Disney. She has been to both Disney World and Disneyland and is rarely spotted during the summer without her signature Disney apparel. In her down time, La'Tia loves to travel, always planning for the next fun destination. She is thrilled to join the Creative Summer program full time!!

The people you meet at camp not only support you during that summer but for many years to come. It’s amazing to work with staff that I have known since I was a camper and to see campers I have taught become CITs and Counselors. Every day at camp is filled with fun because I get to see the incredible work that the campers put together in such a short amount of time!"
Our Summer Staff
Professional teachers, coaches, graduate students, college students, and high school students make up the talented, enthusiastic, and friendly staff at Creative Summer. Additionally, Creative Summer offers a Leader-in-Training Internship Program. The Camper/Staff ratio of 5:1 ensures individual attention for all campers.
A camp nurse is on duty during regular camp hours.
Fun Facts about our Creative Summer team
- Every summer, we hire approximately 230 to 250 Counselors, Assistant Counselors, Junior Counselors, and Leaders-in-Training to work with our campers.
- We have counselors who have been at Creative Summer for over 30 years!!
- Our staff is full of teachers, artists, actors, athletes, students, and even a Maryland State Delegate!
- One thing they all have in common — a passion for teaching and working with children.
